Back and White Swinomish

Back and White Swinomish
Painted on mdf
Gamblin Oil Paints with a Galkyd medium.
24 x 22 inch
Painting not framed
Painted in the technique of Pleinair, this piece was created completely on location over the course of one or many days.
Painted along the swinomish channel which connects parts of the puget sound togeather so that boats dont have to take hours to travel around islands. This portion of the swinomish is technically a private road access for farmers, but the local use it as a walking trail, that if you go far enough travels under the bridge connecting anacortes to the rest of washington. I love this area so much, very chill, lots of birds and wonderful views in almost all directions. I believe this piece was a smaller study as I did two 2x4 foot paintings after this one. Working in black and white is sometimes a nice break from full color, allowing me to focus on all the texture. For what its worth, we are looking south to La Conner in this composition.
